Can you say "Scoundrel"?

This afternoon, my daughter insisted on watching Star Wars with my 2 year old son (this is the boy, mind you, that literally giggled with excitement watching the SWTOR cinematics).  During the screening, my wife overheard the following exchange:

Padawan: "Airplane!  Airplane!"
Princess: "Almost!  Say Millennium Falcon!"
Padawan: "Mennium Fackin!"

Hehehe...I love these little geeks.

Any Given Sunday (except it happened on a Monday)

*THUD*
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"What was that noise?"
"I was trying to use the Force and fell over!"

Sometimes she doesn't know her own midi-chlorean count.

That's Just Wrong

Ah, my wife.  She's smart, funny, witty, and God bless her...she means well.  But while she knows the Star Wars characters' basic histories, she doesn't understand why I'm such a huge fan...or why I was so mortified when she affixed this to the back of our car:
I really hope she's not trying to tell me something.  And why do I hear banjos?

UPDATE: Apparently, not only have people been taking pictures of this, but now it's become part of the Failblog.  My wife's extremely embarrassed, and wants me to buy the Han Solo sticker ASAP.  I'm busting up laughing...and I think I'm going to keep the stickers as they are.  It's just too damn funny.

In the Beginning: The Induction of a Star Wars Geek

My wife absolutely hates all forms of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and it's all her dad's fault. He was a huge Trekkie and tried to indoctrinate her into a love of sci-fi, and it backfired. So I decided to take a different approach with my kids. I figured if they wanted to get interested in it, I'd let them. If not, that was their call.

Which isn't to say I didn't drop hints.

Why the blog?

Over the past couple of years, I've thoroughly enjoyed recounting the story of my daughter's budding love of Star Wars, and how quickly her little brother is catching the bug.  But with the ever-fluid nature of the internet and Facebook, these tales keep disappearing into the ether, and I wanted a more permanent place where I could keep these stories, both for my own posterity, and for those that have enjoyed reading about a geek of a father raising two little geeklings.  Not all stories will be Star Wars related, of course...there's other awesome things my kids do that I'll feel inclined to share.

NOTE: No, their names aren't actually Princess and Padawan. :-)

So I hope you enjoy it, and may the Force be with you!

What?  I said I was a geek!
